How to prevent frozen pipes and what to do if they freeze?
Wrap water supply pipes with foam pipe insulation sleeves. Use heat tape on the most vulnerable pipes. Disconnect outside water hoses then cover outdoor faucets with foam insulation kits to prevent them from freezing. Open cabinet doors beneath sinks to so warm air will circulate around pipes. Allow water to trickle from faucets when temperatures drop below freezing. Keep furnace set no lower than 55 degrees Fahrenheit. If your pipes have already frozen, use a hair dryer to thaw the pipe. Point a space heater at the pipe or the wall containing the frozen pipe. Never use an open flame to heat a pipe! If necessary, call a plumber to thaw pipes. If a frozen pipe has burst, turn off the main water supply valve in the house and open faucets to relieve pressure and minimize damage.
Recent Customer Reviews
As the previous service done in my house on 12/24, the service this time was also excellent and the technician did an excellent job. Thank you very muchNehad A.
The plumber arrived a little early, which was great. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. I had the same problem 4 years ago and I showed him what ... was needed before. He quoted me a fee and I agreed. It took him 45 minutes to unclothed and clean out my house drain. There were no additions to the bill when he was finished and he advised me what to do to prevent this from happening a third time. Do not use Charmin Bathroom Tissue. It is very thick and notoriously clogs pipes. This was the second time I used Roto-Rooter and, if needed, would use them again.
Frank knew exactly what needed to be done and completed the job.Steven B.
