Customer Reviews
Kudos to your tech who put in a new hot water heater when mine went out because of its age. He kept me informed about the installation of it. He was professional, informative, and did an excellent job. No problems afterward with my new appliance. Thanks, Roto-Rooter! Jack K
My water heater was not creating hot water. The tech came out and quickly diagnosed the problem. He showed me the problem and discussed a number of options with me. Once we agreed on a solution he quickly took care of the problem. He showed me how to light the pilot light in case that should be a problem in the future. In a very short time I was back to hot water on one of the coldest days of the winter. I appreciate how quickly someone was able to come and take care of my needs. I would call Roto-Rooter in the future if the need should arise. Deshawn S

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the life span of a water heater?
The average conventional water heater (the kind with a water tank) will last eleven years before it needs to be replaced. However, we've seen many water heaters last 20 years or longer if they were well maintained and the local water is soft with a low mineral content. You can expect a tankless water heater to last around 20 years if it is properly maintained.
Why do I not have any hot water?
Most likely something is preventing your water heater from making hot water. If you have a gas water heater, check to be sure that the pilot light is operating. If you have an electric water heater, check that your water heater is getting power. Be careful working with gas or electricity. If you don't feel safe, call a plumber.
How do I maintain my water heater?
There are different maintenance requirements for conventional gas and electric water heaters and with tankless water heaters. Check your manufacturer's recommendations and follow them carefully. However, in general terms, you'll want to drain sediment from your water heater tank on an annual basis and tankless water heaters will require at least an annual descaling to keep them operating efficiently.
What is the most common problem with water heaters?
The most common problem with gas water heaters is the pilot light. Either it won't stay lit or there are problems with the ignitor that prevent it from lighting. Either condition will prevent the unit from heating water.
