Tip: Cleaning Your Showerhead
Wondering how to remove ugly white mineral buildup from your showerhead? Try this quick method from Roto-Rooter.
- Fill a plastic sandwich bag halfway with white vinegar.
- Secure the bag over the showerhead, fully submersing the buildup in vinegar. Secure the bag with a rubber band or twist tie and leave it in place overnight.
- On the next day, remove the bag and gently clean the showerhead with a soft toothbrush to remove the loosened deposits.
Your showerhead will look and function like new.
Tip: Water Saving Low-Flow Showerheads
Concerned about household water usage? Consider installing a low-flow shower head. Water is usually the second-most expensive utility in the home, and the shower is one of the main uses of water in the home (after the washing machine). Low-flow shower head installation can save you up to $200 a year on water bills, as well as having a positive effect on the environment.
The expert plumbers at Roto-Rooter can help you decide which water-saving or low-flow shower head is right for your home, as well as provide shower installation and repair services.

The bathroom isn’t the only place you might want to install a shower. Outdoor showers are popular in homes near lakes or beaches as well as homes with pools or hot tubs. Many homeowners install outdoor showers for other reasons. An outdoor shower is a great feature for a garage gym. They are also highly convenient for households with young children or dogs—a quick rinse in an outdoor shower can save hours of time cleaning dirt and mud tracked indoors. Avid gardeners also enjoy outdoor showers after a long day in the dirt.
Roto-Rooter plumbers have the expertise you need to help identify a prime location for outdoor shower installation at your home. Just as with indoor bathroom showers, our expert plumbers can also address outdoor shower leaks, recommend water-saving or low-flow shower heads, and unclog outdoor shower drains.

Does Roto-Rooter do shower repairs?
Yes, Roto-Rooter is a full-service plumbing repair company. If you need shower repairs, Roto-Rooter works on shower plumbing systems, including shower faucets, shower mixing valves, shower water supply pipes, shower arms, shower heads, and even the components of a shower drainage system that may be contributing to a slow drain. Roto-Rooter plumbers can also fix plumbing problems related to combination bathtubs/showers and dedicated showers.
How much does Roto-Rooter charge to replace a shower valve?
The cost of replacing a shower mixing valve or faucet cartridge varies by Roto-Rooter location. Additionally, Roto-Rooter, like all reputable plumbers, cannot effectively quote a cost estimate on a shower repair or any other plumbing problem without examining the plumbing and understanding the entirety of the situation. There could be other faulty parts contributing to the problem or the cartridge may be stuck in place due to corrosion. Surrounding parts may need to be replaced in tandem with the cartridge for it to work properly. For these reasons, Roto-Rooter will send a plumber to your home to assess the problem in person. The plumber will then quote you a cost estimate in writing. If you choose to have the work done, the plumber will get right to work fixing the problem.
We had a leak in the bathroom shower diverter. We saw the water spurting out of the handle in the wall & turned it off immediately. But, I ... guess prior to this, there was some water that had been leaking behind the wall on to our bedroom carpet & through the ceiling into the garage. Our plumber was excellent. Hard working & very pleasant. When the finish on the new spigot & handles, didn't go well with the existing bathroom sink fixtures, he quickly said, ""This won't work, I'm going to exchange these"". I really appreciated his willingness to make sure everything was done neatly & properly. The water restoration team was there promptly. They took care of the necessary paperwork & filing the home owner's claim with my insurance co. The techs arrived to set up the drying machines, air scrubber & dehumidifier. They took the wet section of the garage ceiling down, after moving the boxes stored in that area & covered the area with plastic sheeting to contain the dust. Everyone was very professional & considerate. I would not hesitate to recommend Roto-Rooter to family & friends.
We had a sewer blockage problem leading to the back up of water into lower shower. You were able to give us same day service with a knowledgeable, professional ... serviceman who fixed the problem.
Your tech did a great job replacing two faucets in my master bath and putting in a new trim kit in the shower in another bathroom. They look wonderful! He ... also answered all of my questions about other plumbing issues in the house. I've had him out here in the past to fix other things and definitely plan to call back in the future.
