Customer Reviews in Wheeling

June 5th, 2018. I first met Ben from Roto Rooter as he was finishing a job near my house. He listened to my issue and was an excellent representative of ... his company and asked me to contact the office for an appointment. The next day, after calling for an appointment, Stewart called when he was on his way(as promised).Stewart was very professional and extremely informative in how and why he was going to attack my sewer problem. In less than an hour he had it fixed and convinced everything was good to go. I had received an estimate from a different plumber that was over $8000 to replace my whole sewer system when it was only a few roots causing the problem. Best $180.00 I ever spent. Roto Rooter has my full confidence should I or anyone I know ever need their services again!!!

Plumbing problems follow predictable patterns regardless of where a home is located. The pipes, fixtures, and drain lines in any house are subject to the same forces: corrosion, buildup, pressure fluctuations, and mechanical wear. Recognizing those patterns early is what separates a minor repair from a major replacement.

Drain Clogs and Sewer Backups

Kitchen drains fail gradually. Cooking grease cools and solidifies on the pipe wall with each use, narrowing the line until water barely moves. Bathroom drains collect hair and soap scum just past the P-trap. When multiple fixtures back up simultaneously - a toilet gurgling while the shower drains slowly - the blockage is almost always in the main sewer lateral, not at the individual fixture. A Roto-Rooter technician uses a sewer camera to confirm the location before clearing it, so the right method is applied the first time.

Water Heater Failures

A rumbling or popping sound from the water heater is sediment that has settled on the tank floor and is being heated repeatedly. Left unaddressed, sediment reduces efficiency and accelerates corrosion of the tank wall. A failing anode rod compounds the problem - once it is depleted, nothing is protecting the interior steel from rust. Roto-Rooter inspects the anode rod, tests the pressure relief valve, and evaluates the thermostat and heating element before recommending a repair or replacement.

Hidden Leaks

Leaks behind walls, under slabs, and at fixture connections often go undetected until water damage is visible. Unexplained increases in the water bill, soft spots in drywall, or the sound of running water when all fixtures are off are the clearest warning signs. Technicians use moisture meters and systematic visual inspection to trace the source without unnecessary demolition.

Pipe material is one of the most reliable predictors of future plumbing problems. Galvanized steel corrodes from the inside out, progressively restricting flow until pressure drops noticeably throughout the house. PVC and copper lines are more durable but are still vulnerable at joints, fittings, and points where the pipe transitions between materials. Roto-Rooter evaluates the condition of existing pipe and can handle full or partial repipe projects - including conversion from galvanized steel to copper or PEX - when repair is no longer cost-effective.

Water Pressure Problems

Low pressure at every fixture simultaneously points to a supply-side issue: a failing pressure reducing valve, a partially closed main shutoff, or a leak somewhere in the line that is bleeding off pressure before it reaches the fixtures. High pressure is less obvious but equally damaging - it stresses fittings, accelerates wear on valve seats, and can cause water hammer. A pressure reducing valve regulates incoming municipal pressure to a safe household range; when it fails, pressure can climb high enough to damage appliances and fixtures.

Fixture and Appliance Connections

A running toilet is one of the most common and most wasteful plumbing failures in any home. In most cases, a worn flapper or a faulty fill valve is the cause - components that are straightforward to replace but easy to ignore because the toilet still functions. Appliance connections deserve the same attention: an ice maker line that leaks slowly behind the refrigerator, or a washing machine hose that has begun to crack at the fitting, can cause significant water damage before the leak becomes visible. Roto-Rooter handles fixture repair, shutoff valve replacement, and appliance line connections as part of standard plumbing service in Wheeling.

Roto-Rooter has been in business since 1935. In the decades since, the company has built a national infrastructure of trained technicians, consistent diagnostic protocols, and a dispatch network designed to reach homeowners quickly. That infrastructure is what backs every service call - not just the brand name on the truck.

What that means in practice: every technician follows the same diagnostic process. A drain backup gets a camera inspection before the auger goes in, so the technician knows whether the blockage is grease, roots, or a structural problem in the line. A water heater complaint gets a component-by-component evaluation - anode rod, thermostat, pressure relief valve, heating element - rather than an immediate push toward replacement. Consistent process produces consistent results, and that consistency is the foundation of the brand's national reputation.

Authorized Services

  • Plumbing: Leak detection and repair, water heater service, pipe repair and repiping, fixture installation, appliance connections, water pressure diagnosis.
  • Drain Cleaning: Mechanical augering, hydro jetting, sewer camera inspection, main-line backups, kitchen and bathroom drain clogs, floor drain maintenance, tree root intrusion.

Hydro jetting removes calcified grease and mineral scale that a cable auger cannot reach. The Roto-Rooter Machine cuts through tree roots that have grown into older sewer lateral joints. Camera inspection confirms the result after the work is done - not just before. These are methods the brand has refined across millions of service calls, not improvised on-site.

Uniformed Roto-Rooter technicians arrive with the equipment to diagnose and address the most common residential plumbing and drain problems in a single visit. The same national standard that built the brand applies to every call - no shortcuts, no unanswered questions about what was found or what was done.

Roto-Rooter is available 24/7, 365 days a year. A plumbing problem that surfaces at midnight on a Sunday gets the same response as one that comes in on a Tuesday afternoon. Call 304-233-5252 to schedule service or request emergency dispatch in Wheeling, WV. A technician is ready to respond.
