How to prevent frozen pipes and what to do if they freeze?
Wrap water supply pipes with foam pipe insulation sleeves. Use heat tape on the most vulnerable pipes. Disconnect outside water hoses then cover outdoor faucets with foam insulation kits to prevent them from freezing. Open cabinet doors beneath sinks to so warm air will circulate around pipes. Allow water to trickle from faucets when temperatures drop below freezing. Keep furnace set no lower than 55 degrees Fahrenheit. If your pipes have already frozen, use a hair dryer to thaw the pipe. Point a space heater at the pipe or the wall containing the frozen pipe. Never use an open flame to heat a pipe! If necessary, call a plumber to thaw pipes. If a frozen pipe has burst, turn off the main water supply valve in the house and open faucets to relieve pressure and minimize damage.
Recent Customer Reviews
The technician was very professional and worked very diligently to solve the problem. He did get us back up and running again, as well as installing a clean out, ... which we desperately needed as we are at the bottom of the hill and at the end of the line, a situation which sometimes results in overflow in our house after much rain. However, after he left we felt the toilets were still not functioning as well as we expected and another technician was sent out the next day, at which time we opted to have two new toilets installed. The first technician failed to leave my copy of the signed work invoice and I called to request a copy, either by email or by mail. I still have not received a copy of the work invoice and I need it to submit to my homeowner's insurance. I would prefer to have my yellow copy of the work invoice, if someone would PLEASE place it in the mail to me. I would greatly appreciate it.
Service man was on time, polite, efficient, and cleaned up after job was done. Would call Roto-Rooter again if the need arises.
