How to prevent frozen pipes and what to do if they freeze?
Wrap water supply pipes with foam pipe insulation sleeves. Use heat tape on the most vulnerable pipes. Disconnect outside water hoses then cover outdoor faucets with foam insulation kits to prevent them from freezing. Open cabinet doors beneath sinks to so warm air will circulate around pipes. Allow water to trickle from faucets when temperatures drop below freezing. Keep furnace set no lower than 55 degrees Fahrenheit. If your pipes have already frozen, use a hair dryer to thaw the pipe. Point a space heater at the pipe or the wall containing the frozen pipe. Never use an open flame to heat a pipe! If necessary, call a plumber to thaw pipes. If a frozen pipe has burst, turn off the main water supply valve in the house and open faucets to relieve pressure and minimize damage.
Recent Customer Reviews
I had a somewhat simple problem and needed pipes hooked up to a new sink in the kitchen. The original plumbing company I set an appointment with cancelled ... at the last minute so I called RotoRooter. I wasn't happy with the original plumbing company but fortunate for me they couldn't make it. A gentleman by the name of Chan came to my house to fix the pipes. He was so nice and courteous. He cleaned up any mess he made. He didn't have an attitude that it was 9:30 at night. He did excellent work. I highly recommend him if you are looking for reliable, clean, fast and friendly service. Thank you Chan and RotoRooter!!!! I'm a customer for life (even though I hope I never need to call again!!)
Quick and got the job doneAnita V.
I was very pleased with the result of my call to Roto-Rooter. The Internet appointment system worked perfectly, with a plumber showing up at my house as scheduled the ... next morning. Olu, the plumber, was knowledgeable, efficient, and helpful. Although these plumbing services are not cheap, clearing the clog in the pipes from my kitchen sink was somewhat troublesome, and Olu worked hard to get it done. He also offered available discounts, explained the problem and the process for resolving it, and provided useful information and advice for avoiding future problems.
