Roto-Rooter Test Wall. Roto-Rooter Corp. factory in West Des Moines, Iowa. A maze of pipes with twists and turns designed to test Roto-Rooter sewer cleaning cables and blades. Dowel rods simulate tree roots that have grown into a sewer pipe. Dowel Rods in place. Diapers are stuffed into the pipe. Army men are dropped inside, along with tampons, and toy cars. All of these items are commonly found by Roto-Rooter service technicians inside sewer and drain pipes. The latest Roto-Rooter machine is readied for testing. The cleanout access port is opened. The drain cleaning cable is fed into the pipe. A skilled operator learns to negotiate curves and bends in sewer pipes by feel. The twisting, turning blade and cable make their way through the simulated sewer pipe. The spinning cable builds torque to help it push through clogs. The blades cut through tree roots and debris as the cable pushes obstructions out of the pipe. Roto-Rooter drain cleaning cable is effective even when stretched through several hundred feet of sewer pipe. An American original, The Roto-Rooter drain cleaning machine, is still proudly manufactured in the USA. All Roto-Rooter cables and blades are also manufactured at our Iowa production facility.
