Customer Reviews

We had an issue with the pump on our up-flush system, and no one else could offer emergency service—even within a week. Roto-Rooter answered right away with a real person (refreshing!) who was super helpful and had a tech scheduled between 10 a.m. and noon. He arrived early, explained the problem and cost upfront, and got it fixed. He also took time to answer our questions and offered great maintenance tips. Very helpful all around! Janice G

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Roto-Rooter do shower repairs?

Yes, Roto-Rooter is a full-service plumbing repair company. If you need shower repairs, Roto-Rooter works on shower plumbing systems, including shower faucets, shower mixing valves, shower water supply pipes, shower arms, shower heads, and even the components of a shower drainage system that may be contributing to a slow drain. Roto-Rooter plumbers can also fix plumbing problems related to combination bathtubs/showers and dedicated showers.

How much does Roto-Rooter charge to replace a shower valve?

The cost of replacing a shower mixing valve or faucet cartridge varies by Roto-Rooter location. Additionally, Roto-Rooter, like all reputable plumbers, cannot effectively quote a cost estimate on a shower repair or any other plumbing problem without examining the plumbing and understanding the entirety of the situation. There could be other faulty parts contributing to the problem or the cartridge may be stuck in place due to corrosion. Surrounding parts may need to be replaced in tandem with the cartridge for it to work properly. For these reasons, Roto-Rooter will send a plumber to your home to assess the problem in person. The plumber will then quote you a cost estimate in writing. If you choose to have the work done, the plumber will get right to work fixing the problem.

Best practice to keep a shower unclogged?

Showers usually experience hair clogs. This is especially true if the people using the shower have long hair. Keep the shower drain free of hair by placing a hair trap over the shower drain. Clear hair out of the shower drain by using a zip stick or by bending a quarter inche hook into the end of a wire coat hanger. Push the hook into the drain as deep as it will go. Twist it around and slowly pull out the hair balls. This works best if the drain is wet. Repeat the process until no more hair is in the drain. Finally, treat your drain monthly with a safe, bio-based drain maintenance liquid like Roto-Rooter Pipe Shield.

Will Roto-Rooter install a shower/bath?

Your Roto-Rooter plumber can install or replace some bathtub and shower units, but we do not do bathroom remodeling projects beyond water supply and drain connections and plumbing fixture installations. Feel free to contact your local Roto-Rooter office to discuss your project and we'll gladly provide an accurate cost estimate.

How to conserve water in the bathroom?

Conserving water means using less water. Bathrooms are responsible for a great deal household water usage. Here are a few simple changes that can make a big difference on your water bill: 1. Take showers instead of baths. 2. Limit showers to 10 minutes. 3. Do not leave the water running when you're brushing teeth or shaving at the sink. 4. Fix dripping sinks, tub/shower drips and running toilets. If you really want to step up your game on water conservation, convert your toilet to a dual-flush toilet using a tank rebuild kit from your hardware or home center.
