Toilet Repair Made Easy With Roto-Rooter

It can be frustrating when things in your house start to break. After all the work you put in to make things nice, it always seems that something goes wrong. One moment it could be the septic tank overflowing in the backyard and another moment the dishwasher could refuse to turn on. No matter what your headaches are, it seems that the bulk of your time is spent dealing with plumbing. Instead of wasting your valuable time trying to figure out how to fix new and unfamiliar plumbing issues, why not call Roto-Rooter for all of your plumbing needs. Take a moment to look at all of the different products and tools we offer our customers. No matter what the problem is, with Roto-Rooter you can count on having all the resources available exactly when you need them. In an effort to help our customers even more, we've put together a simple guide for toilet repair:

Things you will need:

  ·         A toilet plunger—you should always have one of these handy - stowed beside the toilet bowl or tucked behind it ready in a moments notice.

  • Rubber gloves—especially for nasty clogs, you might need to get your hands dirty. A pair of plastic or rubber gloves will keep you clean through the whole ordeal.
  • Roto-Rooter drain cleaner, pipe shield, and enzymes—these products will help you not only to get the drain clean in a toilet bowl, but also to protect the pipe from damage and future clogs as well.
  • A plumbing snake—for those hard to reach blockages in a drainpipe a plumbing snake will allow you to go deep into the heart of the problem and pull out anything in the way.

Have a Serious Blockage?

If you are dealing with a backed up toilet, follow these steps and suggestions:

1.       If your toilet bowl is experiencing serious blockage, the first tool that you should use is a toilet plunger. Even the cleanest toilet bowls will experience backups that can be easily fixed after a couple minutes of plunging.

  1.  After plunging, if you are still unable to flush the toilet without experiencing overflow, put on rubber gloves and grab the plumbing snake. Use the snake to reach deep down to the source of the problem and pull out anything in the way. Make sure that it is long enough to do the job properly. See a Roto-Rooter professional guide for proper snake technique.
  2.  When the source of the problem is removed, use Roto-Rooter drain cleaner to clear out the rest of the problem and then follow-up with pipe shield to strengthen the drain and prevent damage to plumbing fixtures.
