Ready and Willing: the Calgary Plumbers You Trust to Get the Job Done Right

Clogged drains are downright annoying. When the toilet won’t flush (or, worse, backs up onto the bathroom floor) or the kitchen sink simply won’t empty, it’s time to contact the best Calgary plumbers you can get: Roto-Rooter. After decades of experience in unclogging drains, repairing water heaters, installing sump pumps, and all that other plumbing stuff we do, we’re a pretty good bet. Our technicians are held to a very high standard of education and training so that our customers know they can always rely on us.

Some plumbing issues are easily solved. A leaking faucet probably only needs a replacement part or two, and if you have the time, tools, and skills, you can quickly do that for yourself. Otherwise, you know who to call. Leaking faucets don’t get better with time, so ignoring it will usually lead to more costly measures. You’ll be watching your money run down the drain with every drip, drip, drip of water. If the leak is hot water, you’re paying plenty in energy costs so your water heater can keep providing the heated water to run down your drain one drop at a time. Unsolved leaks can turn into streams, which eventually turn into floods.

When drains are clogged, it means there is an obstruction blocking the flow of water somewhere in the system. The exact nature of that obstruction will determine what needs to be done to remove it. Often, shower and bath drains get plugged up with a combination of hair and hair cleaning products, and removing that plug is easily accomplished. Things are a little more complicated when the obstruction is caused by thirsty tree roots, but we can handle that, too.

Here are some tips you can use to keep drains free from clogs and obstructions.

  • Install hair catchers in shower and bath drains.
  • Never pour grease or oil down the drain. Grease congeals and clings to the insides of your plumbing pipes.
  • Never flush tampons, pads, diapers, diaper wipes, or toys down the toilet. None of those items degrade quickly in water (in fact, most of them are meant to collect and hold onto moisture very efficiently without degrading). Also, choose toilet bowl fresheners that do not require plastic cages for use.
  • You can use a drain cleaner once a month to dissolve buildup. Biodegradable ones are the best, since they do not harm the environment with nasty, harsh chemicals.

If you have a plumbing issue or emergency, don’t hesitate to call us. We’ve got answers to your questions on a multitude of topics to do with your plumbing, and we’re the Calgary plumbers you can trust to do the job right the first time.
