Plumbing ensures good health

The plumber's role in protecting the good health of society is a role that is too often overlooked. Here in the U.S. we take for granted that there will always be clean water each time we turn the tap or flush a toilet. Raw sewage is something most of us never see since, thanks to modern plumbing services and skilled plumbing contractors, waste is piped to efficient water treatment facilities then re purposed.

In other parts of the world, raw sewage runs through the streets and down mud
roads through which children often cross barefoot on the way to fill a bucket of questionable "drinking water" from dirty rivers and streams. It's no stretch to say that we owe a debt of gratitude to plumbers for protecting the health of our nation. Without modern plumbing services and sewer cleaning, we would not have conquered so many water-borne diseases that used to plague most of the world and which still persist in many corners of it.

American Standard, which manufactures a great line of toilets and plumbing fixtures, best expressed the nation's gratitude toward plumbing contractors with its early 20th Century "The plumber protects the health of the nation" poster, which has graced the walls of many plumbing shops since it was introduced. Besides being artfully inspiring, the message is spot-on!
