Roto-Rooter Seattle Plumbers Can Take Care of Root Problems

June 8th, 2010 by Roto-Rooter Bloggers

If you have tree roots blocking your main lines, our Seattle Plumbers of Roto-Rooter would be more than happy to assist you. One solution to this plumbing problem could be to remove the tree entirely from your property, but there is an alternative. The process is called pipe relining, which entails installing a fiber mesh sleeve with an epoxy coating. The pipe becomes resistant to tree roots and you will never have to clean your main line for roots ever again. This process is not only long lasting, but also does very little damage to your yard and the tree can remain untouched.

Seattle Plumbers of Roto-Rooter Are Ready to Tackle Any Sink or Faucet

May 28th, 2010 by Roto-Rooter Bloggers

Our skilled Seattle Plumbers can handle any faucet or sink repair or replacement. From kitchen sinks to water shut-off valves, they do it all. They also are able to do sink and faucet replacements; you can purchase your own model or order through Roto-Rooter and proceed with an installation. Faucets typically don’t last forever and will most likely need to be replaced over time due to regular usage. There are now more efficient faucets, which can be a great option to take advantage of if you are in the market for a replacement as well.

Sometimes, if a faucet breaks things can become quite hectic and you will need to shut off the water before a plumber can arrive. Don’t panic, it is actually a fairly simple process. Look beneath the sink for the water shut-off valves. There should be two shut-off valves (one hot, one cold), they usually are chrome with small oval handles. Once you’ve located them, turn the handles clockwise until the water stops. You may need to use pliers to loosen tight valves, but make sure not to force it all at once or you could end up with a more problematic break.

If you have any questions regarding faucet and/or sink options or any other plumbing problem, one of our plumbers in the Seattle area would be happy to assist you. Visit our Seattle plumber web site for online scheduling or call us at (206) 935-6600.

Seattle Plumbers of Roto-Rooter offer a few ways to detect a leak in your home

May 12th, 2010 by Roto-Rooter Bloggers

A residential plumbing customer recently asked one of our Seattle plumbers for some advice regarding a possible leak. We thought it would be useful to share their experience. The plumbing customer had been receiving abnormally high water bills and was worried they had a leak lurking somewhere within their home.

The suggestion: First, put some food coloring dye into the tanks of your toilets, without flushing. If the water bowl changes color, you have leaky flappers. If nothing happens, you can move on to inspect your faucets for leaks. Lastly, if you still haven’t found anything, you can shut off every fixture and watch your meter. If the meter is spinning, you most likely have an underground leak and will need leak detection service to locate the leak.

Our Seattle plumbers are fully equipped to provide this service and would be happy to assist you. For scheduling, we can be reached at (206) 935-6600 or visit our web site to schedule service online.

Roto-Rooter Seattle plumbers offer septic system maintenance

April 30th, 2010 by Roto-Rooter Bloggers

Any Seattle plumber will assure you that septic systems can last a lifetime with the proper care.  Here are some maintenance tips below:

  • Keep trees and brush at least 100 feet away from the drain field to ensure proper flow and  functionality
  • Use a root destroyer product on a yearly basis to prevent roots from interfering  with your septic system
  • Get your septic tank pumped every two years to remove any buildup of grease and/ or other dense matter that could prevent the drain field from draining well

Other beneficial recommendations to lessen water usage would be to utilize low flow aerators in your faucets, low flow toilets, low flow shower heads and a water saver.  Using less water will most definitely have a positive impact on your septic system and will also help prolong its life.

Roto-Rooter Seattle plumbers alert home buyers to be aware of bathroom plumbing problems

April 29th, 2010 by Roto-Rooter Bloggers

Before buying a home, the Seattle Plumbers at Roto-Rooter suggest you take in to account the small things that may be red flags for future bathroom plumbing problems.

  • Check around the base of the toilets for signs of water damage (rolled vinyl, black or white stains).
  • Check for a "soft floor," stand straddled over the toilet and rock back and forth on each foot. If the floor feels spongy, it is probably rotting or weakened.
  • Check to see how fast the toilet flushes.
  • Check for leaky or loose tiles by pressing on the walls where they come in contact with the bathtub.
  • If the walls are soft, water may have created damage behind the tiles.

If you would like more information or need to schedule service in the Seattle area, please call (206) 935-6600 or visit our Seattle plumber web site.

Seattle Plumber Preferred Service Tech Program

October 29th, 2009 by Roto Rooter Bloggers

Did you know that you can request a specific Roto-Rooter plumber when you call? Roto-Rooter’s preferred service tech program is in place because sometimes things just click between you and your plumber. Customers sometimes write us to say, "that guy was so attentive and he found the perfect bathroom plumbing solutions for us." We understand that when a customer develops a rapport with one of our plumbers, they want to continue using that plumber.

One of our Seattle plumbers was sent out to a remote location to fix some plumbing problems at a vacation home in the dead of winter. It was to be his last job of the day since it was getting late. He took care of the plumbing repair and went on his way. He didn’t get very far when troopers stopped him at a road block and informed him that the highway was closed for the night due to an avalanche of snow covering the road.

Repeated attempts to find a motel were fruitless so the technician called the customer he just visited to see if he could help. Lo and behold, the customer picked up the Roto-Rooter man in his four-wheel-drive vehicle and let him spend the night at one of his rental properties. The two developed a strong rapport and plenty of mutual respect. Guess who the customer calls whenever he has plumbing problems?
