“…blown away by Rick’s sincerity and the dedication that Roto-Rooter employees have for their jobs,” says it best! Episode brought tears to my eyes!
Great Episode, almost wish I had a plumbing issue. Great example for corporate America… Thanks Rick!

And as a University of Dayton Alum, but an OSU fan…Go Bucks!
I caught this episode, and I must say that Mr. Arquilla is a special guy. He actually genuinely cared about his employees…and felt their heartaches. He not only did something nice for the employees of Roto-Rooter, but he felt their needs and compassionately met them. This episode was definitely a tear-jerking inspiration!!!
Fantastic show, thank you for re-airing. If all the presidents, ceos, cfos, coos and upper managament of companies in America would wake up and and quit padding their pockets and invest in their employees and quit shipping jobs overseas, we could see this nation turn around!
Awesome show! Every big CEO should take notes from this company. This is how you treat your employees. Roto-Rooter seems like a great company to work for! Rick Arquilla is the man!
I just watched the Undercover Boss episode with the president of Roto-Rooter, Rick… I am so impressed with him and with his employees of Roto-Rooter.. I will now give them my business the next time I need a plumber… What a great show and Rick’s integrity and sincerity was impressive.
I was impressed with Rick Arquilla sincerity and how he felt the need to get in touch with the people that really run his company. I hope other CEO’s watched so they can understand what great people work for them and we are not just a number. I lost my job with a Big Box company after 11 years along with 7,000 others. I made them millions every year but because of bad management at the top and not listening to the employees this was the out come. Hats off to you Rick to take the time to walk in someone else’s shoes.
My husband and I were so impressed with Rick. What a great boss!!! We cried like babies. WE will want to use Roto Rooter next time we have plumbing problems. Thanks for being such a great compassionate boss.
Not a bad show. I viewed it again yesterday with the ol’ ball and chain. She likes it way more than I personally do but we both enjoyed it.
I saw this episode when it originally aired but watched it again today on On Demand. I have to have my husband watch this show as he grew up with a father with addiction issues. I admire Rick so much and will use this company when necessary based on this show alone. The compassion and sincerity shown was amazing. God bless Rick Arquilla, his work and his family. Thank you to Mr. Arquilla for taking part in this show and program and for taking the time to listen to his family of employees.
This episode was amazing and touching. I am lost for words. I have a 5 year old Autistic son and know the everyday struggles that a mother of a child with autism faces. It is the little things that people don’t understand. Seeing another mother of an autistic child receive such a generous gift was so hart warming. It still brings tears to my eyes.
Hi,
I have just watched the undercover episode featuring Rick Arquilla and was truly blown away with the emotion and empathy he brought to the screen. We hear so many negatives about America and it is reassuring to know there are companies and CEOs who really do care and want to make a difference. This was one of the better episodes, mainly because of the compassion displayed by Rick and the level of commitment by the staff members who were featured. Truly inspirational for both management and staff, and should be required viewing in the boardroom. Wanaka, New Zealand
Watched Undercover Boss here in New Zealand tonight. Normally I don’t much go for those so-called “reality” shows, they appear contrived and far from reality. I was surprised tonight when tears came to my eyes while watching your episode of Undercover Boss, so l Googled “Roto-Rooter” to check that it was a genuine business.
Wow!
Tena Koutou Katoa ete iwi (Hello to All the people of Roto-Rooter)
Your show has just aired in New Zealand/Aotearoa and proved most inspiring and educational (plumbing). Congratulations Mr Arquilla for reflecting true leadership and engaging with the most human of all qualities in sharing. Sincere congratulations on a great show. As the proverb goes from down under, “What is the most precious?” It is the People, the People, the People! You did this well, Mr. Arquilla. Truly truly humbling. Arohanui, Maria
Thanks for your kind comments, Diana. Roto-Rooter used to have a few locations in Australia but I don’t think we’ve ever had franchise operations in New Zealand. We appreciate your taking the time to contact us and tell us about your impressions of the show.
Thank you, Cyril for taking the time to write to Roto-Rooter about our Undercover Boss episode. We’re really glad that you came away from the show with a good impression of our company and a better impression of American businesses. We don’t yet have any franchise locations i New Zealand but we have had some in Australia and we currently have operations in nearby (a relative term) Indonesia and Singapore as well as Japan. We would welcome an opportunity to partner with prospective franchisees in New Zealand.
This show also aired here in Sweden. This episode was the best. Outstanding. What a CEO you’ve got there.
Saw this episode here last night, and have to say your wonderful boss had me in tears. What a fine man, leader and example to the rest of the corporate world.
In Korea, this show aired too. I touched by this show.
I really envy you americans. There are very few CEO like him in my country.
Jin,
Thank you for your comment. It might interest you to know that while Rick Arquilla (the man featured on Undercover Boss) is our president and chief operating officer (COO), our CEO, Spencer Lee, was born in Korea and he lived there as a child before he moved to the U.S. and became an American citizen. Like Rick, Spencer is a great guy and an outstanding leader in our company.
Very insightful. I am interviewing with Roto-Rooter today after almost thirty years in the military. One of the most important things for me in my next career,is joining an organization that reflects similar core values that we live by in the Air Force; Intergrity First, Service before self, Excellence in all we do and Diversity with equal opportunity. It would seem that these uncensored comments by people that have viewed this program provide a very positive “behind the curtain” view of the leadership and I must say I am impressed.
EXCELLENT. Roto- rooter is my plumber of choice from now on. Thank you Rick for recognizing that working hard and being dedicated is worth a “thank you” being appreciated goes a long way. We need more shows that concentate on the good that others do. Brings us all closer as a nation. Rick would you be interested in training our government on how to work together? It’s just really so simple…treat people well, impower them to do their job and you truely will get their best. We all just want to be appreciate….simple really
