High Power Jetting

November 4th, 2009 by Roto Rooter Bloggers
New construction in Westbury has caused plumbing problems at a commercial customer's location, which will require using our high power jet. After doing a camera inspection on the main line, it seems the contractor used duct tape on the joints of the pipes and although that could be normal practice for the contractor, some of that tape is working its way through the joints causing the lines to backup. Our recommendation to the customer is to high power jet the line to try to clear most of the tape and other debris out of the line.

If you are experiencing a similar issue, high power jetting could be your solution and the Roto-Rooter New York plumbers are more than capable of assisting you. Feel free to call us at 516-785-6398 to schedule service at your convenience.

October 13th, 2009 by Roto Rooter Bloggers
We at Roto-Rooter of New York received a wonderful compliment from a customer that we would like to share. The customer wrote:

I recently had a big flood in my Staten Island home. The New York plumbers of Roto-Rooter were very quick to arrive and were able to solve my hot water heater problem. It seems that the tank had burst and they were promptly able to replace it within 2 hours. I used to think Roto-Rooter only took care of clogged drains but now I know they can handle any local plumbing jobs. Thanks for the great service.

Garbage Disposal Advice

September 20th, 2009 by Roto Rooter Bloggers

As a New York plumber (a Buffalo plumber to be exact) of Roto-Rooter, I have experienced some interesting New York plumbing issues. I would like to bring up the subject of garbage disposals, which is of much interest to me, as a plumber/drain cleaner. My advice would be to throw your garbage in a trash can. Though it is obvious, many people tend not to do so nowadays.

Firstly, your kitchen sink drain line was never designed to deal with waste. It is to be used for "gray water," nothing more (gray water is soapy water, a problem all its own). Typically a kitchen sink drain line is 1 ½ inches in diameter. If you are familiar with a bit of plumbing info, you should know only a small amount of whatever you rinse or flush down the drain can be accommodated.

Truth be told, soap and water is about it! Anything that will absorb water will expand. So, you can see how this may cause a problem or two when working with only 1 ½ inches of space. Remember... when in doubt, throw it out! You'll avoid many plumbing problems. No matter what, you may still have drain clogs. Though following this simple advice has the potential to save you money in the long run. More to come!

Don't hesitate to visit our Web site or give us a call at 1800-GET-ROTO to speak with a representative and/or schedule a New York or Buffalo plumbing service call.
