Home Utility Maintenance to Prevent Water Heater Leaking

You will know that your day is just starting to get interesting when you notice your water heater leaking. Your first reaction might be to mumble a few choice words and run around in circles screaming and crying. After a few moments, however, you will realize the futility of that activity and resort to calling your friends in the plumbing business at Roto-Rooter. We are always on-hand, day or night, seven days a week. We will even come to your home in the middle of the night for an emergency!

Your home is full of plumbing devices. If you were to walk around with a notebook and a pencil, you could probably list twenty fixtures that have to do with plumbing installed in your home. With all those various devices, you probably realize that if they were to all fail at the same time, your life would suddenly become miserable. Fortunately, that is unlikely to happen. The fact is those devices are very hardy and will last a long time if they are properly maintained.

Do you have a maintenance program in your home? Statistics state that homes with a preventive maintenance schedule for fixtures and appliances have a lower incidence of mechanical failures. You will spend less money on expensive installations and repairs, too. You should implement your own maintenance program if you have not done so already. To get you started, here are a few tips:

  • Check your air conditioning and furnace system every year. Change the filters every three months, or more often if you live in a dusty environment. Clear any weeds and debris from around the condenser unit located outside on a concrete slab.
  • Check your water heater. Clear out dirt and debris that might collect around the burner area. Make sure the top vents are clear of any obstructions.
  • Check your sump pump at least once a year. Do this by pouring a bucket of water into the sump pit. It should disappear within a few seconds. Clean off any hard water deposits or corrosion from the pump’s moveable parts.

Professional Roto-Rooter plumbers are trained to respond to leaks, breaks, and worn out fixtures. We can repair any plumbing problem you have. Whether you have a faucet leak, water heater leaking

, or a toilet that needs to be installed, we will take care of your needs. We will provide you a detailed estimate of all costs, so there are no surprises.
